Our One Bedroom Corner 701 unit is spacious and well-appointed with a King Bed in the bedroom and a Queen sofa bed in the living room. There is seating arrangements for relaxing and dining. The whole unit was completely remodeled in November of 2023. You will find plenty of space to store your clothing and personal items. The kitchen comes fully equipped with all the modern conveniences. A flat screened TV, Blu-Ray Player and I-Pod docking station are there for your entertainment. An in-room telephone with answering machine is provided, as well as a secure safe with room to hold your laptop. Free wifi. Enjoy the cool comfort of central air conditioning, or open the windows and let the room fill with tropical ocean breezes. The very best benefit by far is the outstanding ocean view with the Islands of Lanai and Molokai as a backdrop.

Fantastic location with an incredible view. Highly recommend staying here. We saw whales, turtles, and a monk seal! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, shave ice, and a supermarket.

The best thing about this rental, 701, is the balcony & the view! Right below you is the ocean and you can see the turtles. Also you can see dolphins & whales with the provided binoculars. You are right on the water. All the other hotels & buildings are set back from the beach. The location is great and everything is walkable. There is a nice grocery store across the street. The bed was very comfortable.
It is in an older, small condo building but this is nice because it is quiet & doesn’t have the commotion that the nearby hotels have. The condo is small & the pictures make it look bigger and more attractive than it is in person (which is common these days) but we would rent it again. We used the communal grill and it was clean and worked well.
Our only issues were that the freezer would freeze ice but didn’t keep frozen food frozen. Maybe this is a Hawaii issue. Also, the digital display on the thermostat wasn’t readable during the day but the AC worked well.

Had a wonderful time! Sunset view was amazing!! No need to do sunset cruise- we’ve done it on our previous trip and sunset view from our balcony was amazing and unbelievable. Will definitely return.

A Lanai to Remember
We loved our stay at Maui Kai 701! The 180+ degree views from the lanai are incredible and unparalleled! Most of the time that we spent in the unit were spent on the lanai taking in the views of the ocean, the sea turtles swimming below the building, and a few sightings of manta rays! The unit itself is well furnished with everything one may need. It’s our second stay at Maui Kai, and we’d absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to Maui. There’s a nice beach just to the north of the building, or a slightly shorter walk to the south, past the tennis courts, near Dukes. The only addition to the unit that I’d recommend is a wagon to make it easier to pull beach chairs, towels, and the boogie board to the beach to the south. We also enjoyed the pool and grills, and our son and nephews enjoyed the ping pong table and cornhole by the pool area.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Maui Kai. We absolutely love it. This unit was better than our last and absolutely stunning with the corner views. The only thing I would change about this unit would be a television in the bedroom. We just used our phone to watch things going to sleep. This turned out to not be a huge inconvenience. Again, 5 stars will definitely look for this unit next year.

We were thoroughly impressed with this property, which exceeded our expectations in every way. The breathtaking view from our balcony was a constant source of delight, with frequent sightings of whales, turtles, stingrays, and dolphins. The staff was consistently courteous and accommodating, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free stay. Our room was immaculately clean and ideally situated near a range of excellent restaurants and shopping establishments. My husband and I stayed with our two teenage sons. The property was in a great location and we could walk right down to the beach. We were also within walking distance of the food truck park and close to shops and eateries. The unit itself was lovely and very clean. Very relaxing!

We had an excellent stay! This unit is tastefully updated and comfortable. The view from the balcony is nothing short of amazing. We saw numerous whales both while eating breakfast and having happy hour before dinner! The location is convenient, close to a grocery store and other restaurants within walking distance. We would definitely stay again on our next trip to Maui!

The large, well-lit apartment with a spectacular view of the sea and two islands, where you can watch the sunset. There’s a great beach next to the building, where we spotted a seal and a turtle. Kaanapali Beach is easily accessible through a door on the grille surrounding the beach parking lot. Black Rock is a 50-minute walk, but the path is well urbanized and full of restaurants. The appliances and finishes are new and work well. It was a great experience! Allen was a great host. Super recommend it.

Better to book direct
This year we booked through the club Maui Kai as opposed to a third party like VRBO. We got the room we wanted at the going rate. To clarify, we have stayed here and loved Maui Kai for many, many years. It makes a difference who you rent through as these are individually owned combos. The 3rd party condo we had last year was not as wonderful as the one this year that we rented through the office. Last year was much more expensive so we won’t do that again.
I must mention that Lala in the office is a delight! What a wonderful woman. We love her. She has been sweet, professional and very helpful.
Our corner unit has been renovated. The kitchen is terrific. We do miss the ocean blue tile on the lanai. No rug, although better in a sandy environment, creates hard surface noise. The unit seems loud now. However, we love the ocean and wind sounds. It’s February and we don’t use the AC. It came on when we arrived and works well. We just prefer trade winds and are quite comfortable with windows open and strategic shades down at certain times.
Here is what makes Maui Kai special:
It’s right on the ocean. Every single unit is ocean front.
Whales ( in season) turtles, other occasional sea creatures. They are right there. We spend a lot of time from coffee in the morning to cocktails at sunset watching the ocean.
It’s mellow here. There is a small pool & hot tub. People are quiet and polite.
It’s on the North end of Kaanapali. The paved board walk begins just to the south out of the Maui Kai driveway.
You are close to the Times grocery and a commercial area- walking distance. There are food trucks. If you didn’t need to go to attractions every day you could stay here without a car. That is a rarity on Maui. We walk to Dukes too.
Step out to the right or left for sand beach. Airport beach is in walking distance. Even though there is little to no sand in front of the building it’s on either side. This trip we have seen snorkels, surfers and stand up paddle boards out in front.
Our plan is to continue our yearly vacation with some time at Maui Kai.
